Before contesting in MasterChef Singapore Season 2, Leon worked as a Chinese Language Tutor and Chinese Curriculum Director for a Tuition Centre. He was previously a MOE School Teacher specialising in Chinese Language and Literature. 

 

Leon previously ran 2 Baking Interest groups in community centres from 2013 to 2018, where he frequently does community baking sessions and culinary demonstrations for residents. In 2021, Leon competed in MasterChef Singapore Season 2, where he emerged as the 1st Runner-up. During the competition, Leon showed great interest and flair in championing the local hawker cuisine. Post-MasterChef, Leon has been invited to be the judge for multiple cooking competitions. He was also the guest chef for various Television and Radio Programmes and Social Media Campaigns. He also does cooking demonstrations and food consultancy work for clients.

 

Leon is a trained vocalist and has performed at various community events and weddings since 2013. In late 2021, Leon was invited to participate in a local MandoPop Singing Competition, SPOP! Wave Season 2. Leon was placed in Team Freshmen, where he emerged as a Semi-finalist. During the season, he worked alongside various celebrity contestants, such as Gao Meigui, Sherly Devonne Ng and Jimmy Ye, to present renditions of MandoPop hits composed by Singaporean talents. 

 

Leon is also a trained bilingual host and has been hosting various events, such as community festivals, weddings and live streams, since 2014. He can transition fluently and comfortably between both English and Mandarin. He has also done work in translation and live interpretation for conferences and workshops since 2015.
